Good to know
Choose one or more JPG/JPEG images, set your options, and convert. Compare the original and actual PNG result before downloading each file or the batch as a ZIP. Files stay in your browser. Up to 30 images, 25 MB each and 100 MB combined; images and outputs are limited to 24 megapixels.
Keep the original background, remove a white or selected plain-color background, or replace it with a color. Sample a color from the original image and adjust tolerance and edge softness. Edge-connected removal protects matching colors enclosed inside the subject; turn it off to remove the color everywhere. This is plain-background removal, not automatic subject cutout for complex photos.
Keep original dimensions, scale by percentage or set a custom fit/crop/stretch size. Rotate, flip, trim transparent edges and set DPI. Transparent padding stays transparent unless you select a replacement color. The preview checkerboard is not part of the downloaded PNG.
PNG preserves the converted pixels without additional JPEG compression, but cannot restore detail lost in the source JPG. PNG files can be larger. Settings apply to the batch; convert again after changes. Metadata is rebuilt rather than copied from the original camera file. Check edges and transparency before sharing.
Files stay in your browser. Keep your originals and check your download.
How to use JPG to PNG
- Add JPG or JPEG files. You can process up to 30 files, 25 MB each and 100 MB combined.
- Keep the background, remove a plain color, or replace it. Adjust sizing, rotation, tolerance and soft edges when needed.
- Convert and compare the actual PNG preview with the original. Download individual results or the successful batch as a ZIP.
A practical example
For a logo on a white JPEG background, select plain-color removal and sample the white area. Start with a low tolerance, inspect the edges on the checkerboard and increase tolerance only as needed. Check that white areas inside the logo are preserved.
Common questions
Will PNG restore detail lost in a JPEG?
No. PNG avoids another round of lossy JPEG encoding, but cannot recover missing source detail. A PNG photograph can also be larger than the original JPEG.
Can this remove a complex photographic background?
The removal controls target plain colors, rather than recognizing people or objects. Complex backgrounds may leave unwanted pixels or remove similar subject colors. Review transparency before using the result.
